Impact

Throughout my collegiate career I have taken many courses but none has had a more profound impact on me than the Culture Management course I took at Hochschule Osnabrück (my research project from the course is linked below). This course gave me the ability to look at other cultures from their perspectives instead of my own. As someone who will be an international manager in the future, it is absolutely crucial to be aware of cultural differences but the true key lies in encouraging others to express these differences rather than dismissing them completely. However, these differences are significantly smaller than we tend to believe. When in fact, if we look beyond the stereotypes of any given culture, we have a lot more in common with others regardless of the country they come from than we actually tend to realize. I experienced this first-hand during my internship at Warwick. Even though we may come from different cultures, backgrounds and think a different way, that doesn't make it wrong. We should constantly expose ourselves to ideas that conflict with the way we think as this is what allows us to grow and evolve. Being able to think beyond our own borders, awareness of cultural differences throughout the world, embracing other cultures are truly the essence of being a Global Scholar.

Cultural Management Research Project on Warwick

This study abroad experience was the most challenging yet most rewarding experience I ever had. There were numerous obstacles along my journey but enduring this adversity allowed me to learn a lot about myself as well as being able to grow in ways I had never foreseen. Nonetheless, if I could do this all over again in the exact same way, I would in a heartbeat. My most favorite part of all was the wonderful people I met along my journey. I could not hot have made it through this journey without them and I would like to give them a very special shout-out. My father, Grandparents, Sharuzen, Adam, Sandra (dear friend), Frau Kaur-Lahrmann (Cultural Management Professor), Alicja (dear friend), Matze, Johanna, Jesse, Jordan, Adam, Marko.
